Past Events

Bunnies and Bows Fundraiser 2019

We had so much fun at our first Bunnies and Bows Fundraiser, hosted by Rick's Furniture in Starkville. Our rescue bunnies, Henry and Hazel, had their photos taken with lots of sweet children, and all of the proceeds benefited Grassroots dogs awaiting adoption.

Dog Jog 2017

Dog Jog 2017 was great fun! Our dogs loved running the race and getting attention from all the folks in the community.  Thanks to everyone who came out and supported all of the animal rescue groups and shelters at Dog Jog and special thanks to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society Student Chapter for hosting the event!

Santa Paws Fundraiser 2016
Santa Paws saw lots of Grassroots Animal Rescue supporters at both the Oktibbeha County Co-Op and Tractor Supply Co. in Starkville in December. We had lots of fun spreading holiday cheer and visiting with the community. Thanks to everyone who came out to visit Santa Paws and support our rescue mission!

 Starkville Restaurant Week 2016
We were honored to be one of the charities nominated to participate in the 2016 Starkville Restaurant Week. Thanks to all of our supporters who helped us win the $1,000 prize, sponsored by Vollor Law Firm. This money went to our veterinary care fund, helping us provide necessary veterinary care to our animals awaiting adoption.

Dog Jog 2016
We had an awesome time at the 3rd Annual Dog Jog, sponsored by the Oktibbeha County Humane Society Student Chapter. The 5K and Fun Run was great fun for everyone, and we were able to see lots of our friends from the community, as well as several dogs who had been adopted from us previously!

Santa Paws Fundraiser -- December 2015
Santa came to town and took photos with pets and kids on December 5 at the Oktibbeha County Co-Op and on December 6 at Tractor Supply Co in Starkville.  Everyone had fun, and we were able to see lots of former Grassroots dogs happy with their forever families. What a great way to kick off the holiday season!

Santa Paws - December 2014
Our first annual Santa Paws was such a hit, Santa came twice in 2014 -- once to the Oktibbeha County Co-Op and once to Tractor Supply. Santa saw both pets and kids, and was a great fundraiser!

Dog Jog - May 2014
The Oktibbeha County Humane Society Student Chapter held their first ever Dog Jog and was generous enough to include some of our dogs. We had so much fun!

Santa Paws - December 2013
Santa Paws came to the Oktibbeha County Co-Op to spread some Christmas cheer to dogs in the community. Dogs were able to get their pictures with Santa Paws as well as donate food and supplies to Grassroots Animal Rescue.
